“The story is told that Martinelli received $25,000 for singing only twice.

Paul and Silas sang one night in prison. Their song was not rendered with the skill or harmony of Martinelli’s but its tenderness touched the heart of the keeper of the prison and echoed through the angel-crowded streets of heaven, and the listening King of kings rewarded those who sang with crowns of glory that will gleam in beauty throughout eternal ages.”

The immortal soul of every Nurse and every person we care for, are responsible for, or to, is beyond all price.

There is no trouble too great, no humiliation too deep, no suffering too severe, no love too strong, no labour too hard, no expense too large, but that it is worth it, if it is spent in an effort to win a soul.

God loves the soul more than all creation. He fashioned it in His own image, and made it like Himself. Every soul that has departed from God has gone astray and God has bought that soul back again with a price.

The price was in, and through, and by Jesus Christ. God loves the soul of each Nurse and each person we care for, with an everlasting love.

Satan hates the soul. In Satan’s enmity toward God he is using all his energy, using every snare, his utmost cunning, employing every means with the single purpose of ruining the soul of every Nurse, and all people.

When a million eternities have each lived their endless ages and have rolled by into the unthinkable past and time is no more, the soul will still be living, yours Nurse and mine, a conscious personality endowed with perpetual life reunited with the body.

“And he who wins souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30

“Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars for ever and ever.” Daniel 12:3

Compassion was the heart beat of the LORD Jesus Christ, our Saviour’s ministry
“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.” Mathew 9:36

“But You O LORD, are a God full of compassion and gracious,
Longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and truth.” Psalm 86:15.

“I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.” Luke 15:7

These thought provoking References pp.1390 in The Open Bible brought to mind the following:

Compassion is the heartbeat of every Nurse in the professional ministry of Nursing, as we care for all God’s children in every nation.

How and when do you and I sing as a Nurse? In and for Nursing?

Paul and Silas sang in a horrendously miserable situation and their singing brought forth great blessings, and great joy, in heaven.

How much do you and I limit God’s power through Nursing by NOT singing?

As you sing and ponder the words of this hymn let God speak and give to you a whole new perspective on life and Nursing.

You will have new found joy in managing each situation more effectively in the time available.

Words & Music by Helen H. Lemmel 1922

The lyrics of this hymn were inspired by the Gospel tract Focused, by Lilias Trotter, which included these words:

“So then, turn your eyes upon Him, look full into His face and you will find that the things of earth will acquire a strange new dimness.”

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Refrain
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
1.
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Refrain
2.
Through death into life everlasting He passed,
and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!
Refrain
3.
His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
Refrain
