With the formalising of our Nursing With A Difference Trust in New Zealand it is timely for us to present a brief review of the past decade which hopefully will be an encouragement for Nurses in difficult situations in many other countries:
ORIGIN
The seeds for Nursing With A Difference were sown in 1988 when 28 Nurses met for 3 days prior to the NCFI Conference in Philadelphia, USA to examine some of the causes of the worldwide downward escalation in Nursing in spite of higher education, greater opportunities, and improved conditions.
It was resolved “To do all in our power to help Nurses from the ‘Top down ’ and ‘Bottom up’, in what-so-ever situation we found ourselves, to redress this distressing decline”.
In India we produce specific resources and hold workshops to address identified needs, as well as making full use of available resources for Nurses engaged in Hospital, Community or Education, in Government-Medical Colleges and Civil hospitals, Military, Air force, Navy, Police, etc. throughout the nation.
Nursing With A Difference Trust was registered on 7 September 1998.
Trust Deed:
In a nutshell our aim is to complement the good in Nursing by identifying the gaps and contributing to the overcoming of those gaps through the most appropriate means.
The key to the effectiveness of Nursing With A Difference is found in our caption “Let each day be your masterpiece” based on Galatians 6:9. Here we have the uniqueness and dignity of every Nurse and every patient in the world.
Nursing With A Difference is therefore based on a COMMISSION and not a MISSION.

Nursing With A Difference is committed to:
Working within the Health System through discussion and collaborating with the Ministry of Health, the Nursing Council, College of Nurses Aotearoa, NZNO, Health Institutions and individual Nurses and groups as deemed appropriate.
To complement the good in Nursing by helping to overcome gaps through mutually acceptable methods and approaches in collaboration with Nurses in each country.
To honour our Commission before God and man, embodied in our Nurse’s Pledge and the NZ Nurse’s Registration Badge, and to learn together how better to draw on the wisdom of God through the power of His grace and the grace of His power to meet the current crisis in Nursing.
Migration of Nurses
With the migration of large numbers of Nurses from India and many other countries to New Zealand it has become clear that Nursing With a Difference may well be able to help Nurses be better prepared to enter Nursing in NZ and to avoid some of the very real difficulties associated with migration.
It was a privilege, but distressing to hear first hand from many migrating Nurses, as well as from Nurse administrators and educators who desire the best for each migrating Nurse as well as the Nursing Services being offered by their institutions, some of the challenges and difficulties involved.
Nursing With A Difference recognises the value of cross cultural experiences in Nursing and the richness every Nurse can bring to new situations, but at the same time recognizes that there are factors to be faced in a different country which when discussed need not become a cause of distress even grief.
Migrating Nurses
We therefore invite Nurses planning to migrate from India to contact us by email or by phone to set up an appointment as early as possible. Our aim is to save you time, unnecessary expense, anxiety and distress.
Nursing With A Difference is also concerned that we encourage Nurses in returning to India from abroad. It is very easy to become disillusioned and think everything in another country is great when faced with the day to day challenges in our own country.
Immigrating Nurses
We therefore invite all Nurses returning from abroad to contact us by email or telephone to share their experiences with a view to making a real impact with the best of both worlds right where he/she is currently employed, as well as through our website.
OUR COMMISSION is to enter into the fullness of God’s grace and blessings as we reflect on and benefit from all that Nursing offers in what-so-ever country we are in or have been privileged to Nurse in so that even previously distressing experiences can be used for the benefit and blessing of all whom we care for and work with.
